Work Problems: Part 2

I talked about the struggles of working with autism a while back in a different post. I had not been diagnosed with all the other disorders I have at the time. I have been out of work for a few months now and wanted to explain why I was having such a hard time at all my jobs. I do not do well working with other people. I get triggered by small things and I believe a lot of it actually has to do with the borderline personality disorder (BPD). Autism makes not having a routine very difficult, but it does not make me struggle being around other people. I have really been enjoying not working because I have been able to find activities I enjoy and focus on this blog and my mental health more. The only issue is money really. Unfortunately, that is very important to get through life.

I worked at a school for almost 4 years, but I did not like how a lot of people around me treated some of the special needs students. I also worked in a baker act facility and even though I have been baker acted I enjoyed it, until another coworker treated the patients bad. I have a hard time working with people who do not understand mental health. I know most people can just deal with difficult coworkers, but mental health is extremely important to me and I cannot watch someone treat people with mental health disorders bad because it can cause trauma for me to remember when people would treat me bad.

I eventually would love to open a business where I help those with mental health conditions have a safe place and we can do activities; however, it is really hard to start that, especially since I do not have money right now. I also would like this blog to become more successful. I have added a section to donate money, so I can keep this blog up and running. I know not a lot of people read this, so for those of you that do, please share with friends or family you know who may struggle with mental health. Also know you are not alone if you also cannot work due to mental health issues.

I will also attach the link to my previous post below. It was about why people with autism have a difficult time working in general. I just wanted to explain that even if we can last for years at one job; it is not easy to keep it up. We get burnt out very easily compared to the average person. I believe having a job where you do not work too many hours, but also have a consistent schedule could be beneficial to someone going through mental health. That gives you the opportunity to really work on yourself, but also have some money. Thank you for any help with donations or sharing this blog with others that may need it!
