There are a lot of songs that can relate to BPD and if you are interested in them, then I can share more later, but these are my top 10 that I feel I relate to the most.
My Backwards Walk - Frightened Rabbit
This song reminds me how hard it can be to get through life with strong emotions and how having a favorite person can affect me and it's hard to let go.
Free - Florence + The Machine
This song explains how our moods can come suddenly and change frequently no matter how hard we try to control them.
All Your Exes - Julia Michaels
People with BPD tend to be very insecure and may get jealous easier than the average person. This song talks about how we want to be the only person that has ever been with someone and wishing they had never been with anyone else.
I Wouldn't Love Me - Sam Short
Feeling like we can not be loved by anyone is very common in BPD. We have a strong fear of abandonment and this talks about how someone could never want to be with someone like us.
Unwell - Matchbox Twenty
This talks about how we hide our emotions at first, but eventually someone will notice that we have intense mood swings and we will come off different to them.
Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely) - P!nk
People with BPD have very black and white thinking. This song talks about how we split between the two. We want someone there one second, then we want them gone the next. It's a battle between our emotions every minute
Soap - Melanie Martinez
I think this song talks about how we can say things impulsively without meaning them and they may come off worse than we meant to and now we have to fix the issue because we didn't mean what we said.
If You're Gonna Lie - FLETCHER
This song can be about self- sabotage. It is basically saying we would put up with someone telling us lies, but we would rather deal with it just to have someone around than have them leave us.
Hardline - Julien Baker
This song talks about knowing we are destructive and we constantly have to apologize, but people expect it from us. It's something we have to deal with constantly and can't figure out how to get away from these emotions.
So Unsexy - Alanis Morisette
This talks about how we do not handle rejection well and we struggle with self image. No matter how much people tell us we are okay, we just do not believe it because of the few rejections we do get. They affect us more than the compliments we get.
Everyone with BPD is different. These are just some of my favorites that I relate to the most. I can always share more if you would like, but I thought I would share for those who need to understand more or just want to understand themselves better! I hope these help or at least help find new music to listen to. Feel free to message me with suggestions on more post requests. Thank you for reading!
